Two Chinese fighter jets intercepted an American military plane over the East China Sea, the US Air Force said. The US aircraft, a WC-135 Constant Phoenix, was conducting a “routine mission” in international airspace on May 17 when it was intercepted by two Chinese Sukhoi SU-30 fighter aircraft, the Air Force said in a statement. The WC-135 is a so-called “sniffer plane” designed to scan the atmosphere for signs of nuclear activity. “The WC-135 was operating in accordance with international law. While we are still investigating the incident, initial reports from the US aircrew characterized the intercept as unprofessional,” the Air Force said. The United States was addressing the issue with China through “appropriate diplomatic and military channels.” Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a regular press briefing in Beijing that she had no information about the incident, and the country’s ministry of defense did not respond to AFP’s request for comment. Mid-air interceptions occur routinely in international airspace, but the US military will often call out foreign pilots if it judges the maneuvers to be risky or unprofessional.

Christian Schools Told to Allow Homosexual Clubs—or Close (Source thetrumpet.com) Two private Christian schools in Alberta, Canada, must  to-force-independent-christian-schools-into-offering-clubs-for” set up clubs for homosexuals, the province’s education minister, David Eggen, ruled on March 23. John Carpay, the lawyer for the two small, rural schools, replied that the schools “would not allow clubs to operate which were not in compliance with their religious beliefs.” The Independent Baptist Education Society presides over these two Albertan schools. Enticed by promises of funding, the Society has attached itself to the public school system in a limited way. Alberta is now subsidizing the society by 70 percent. Though these two small, Christian schools have yielded to all the regulations laid upon them in this venture for funding, Eggen now requires that they set up “Gay-Straight Alliance” clubs. In reality, they are only required by the School Act to set these clubs up if one or more students ask for them. Eggen, however, is now requiring them, even without any demand from the student body, and threatening to close the schools if they resist. It is not a “safe” environment for all students, and there is a “hostile” attitude toward lgbtq(lesbian, gay, bisexual, transvestite and queer) people, said Dan Scott, a lawyer sent by Eggen to investigate the schools. The schools were run by “sincere” and loving people, he said, but that it was an unsuitable environment for lgbtqs.

Hospitals across the UK have been hit by what appears to be a major, nationwide cyber-attack, resulting in the loss of phone lines and computers, with many hospitals going “dark” and some diverting all but emergency patients elsewhere. At some hospitals patients are being told not to come to A&E with all non-urgent operations cancelled, the  HYPERLINK “http://www.bbc.com/news/health-39899646” BBC reports. The UK National Health Service said: “We’re aware that a number of trusts that have reported potential issues to the CareCERT team. We believe it to be ransomware.” It added that trusts and hospitals in London, Blackburn, Nottingham, Cumbria and Hertfordshire have been affected and are reporting IT failures, in some cases meaning there is no way of operating phones or computers. At Lister Hospital in Stevenage, the telephone and computer system has been fully disabled in an attempt to fend off the attack. NHS England says it is aware of the issue and is looking into it.
According to the Telegraph, doctors across the country have seen this message – what appears to be ransomware – flash up on their screens. The notification demands that $300 worth of bitcoin be sent to a specific address to unlock the infected computer.

North Korea launches a new unidentified missile as tensions with US fester (Source CNBC) North Korea fired an unidentified projectile from a region near its west coast, South Korea’s military said, a development that was confirmed by U.S. officials. The nature of the projectile is not immediately clear, a South Korean military official said by telephone. Yonhap news agency reported the projectile launched appeared to be a ballistic missile. Three U.S. officials also confirmed to NBC News the country launched a projectile.  The launch took place at a region named Kusong located northwest of the capital, Pyongyang, where the North previously test-launched its intermediate-range missile it is believed to be developing. The launch, if it is confirmed to be test-firing of a ballistic missile, is the first in two weeks since the last attempt to fire a missile ended in a failure just minutes into flight. The North attempted but failed to test-launch ballistic missiles four consecutive times in the past two months but has conducted a variety of missile testing since the beginning of last year at an unprecedented pace. Weapons experts and government officials believe the North has accomplished some technical progress with those tests. The wealthiest .001% don’t have to worry—they’ll be fine in just about any scenario. But people in the 85th–95th percentiles are in danger of taking a fall in the next big market and economic upheaval. And of course, the lower middle in the 25th–50th percentiles are very vulnerable to downward mobility. I know no banks — because of the recession, the Great Recession — have touched a golf course. You know, no one’s funding any kind of golf construction.
